You would think that if someone was to begin a blog as to have something to do with their time and creative energy during a pandemic it would take place in the beginning of sheltered in place time and not in the middle or, hopefully, near the end of it.
But that’s logical and logic is not something I’m know to have as a strength. However, after developing and writing a highly successful blog (The Pitt POV about Pitt football) from 2016 until last year I figured I’d jump right back into it. Now it’s that time.
This blog will be more personal and will have essays, impressions, some stories and anecdotes about my life from growing up in Pittsburgh, through my 33 year military career and now in the golden (?) retirement years. I think I’m a pretty good story teller – at least I’ve been told that – and now I’ll share some personal stuff with you all.
I have but a few ground rules for my posts and your comments; first I will treat you readers as thinking, feeling and intelligent human beings and ask for the same from you. Secondly I will keep a hard line on no politics and no religion at all – those debates go absolutely nowhere in the current social atmosphere and lead to rancor. Finally, and this is most important, we will treat each other with civility and grace. That means no crude swearing (those comments will be automatically flagged) and no insults. If you feel you cannot abide those simple rules then this isn’t the place for you. I’ll try my best to give everyone something to think about and talk about every few days or so and let’s see how things work out.
